Your Contribution
- Lead a survey crew supporting and under the direction of a PLS
- Plan and manage daily work of assigned survey crew including use of equipment, preparation of field notes, and electronic data collection
- Organize crew with available resources to complete assigned project thoroughly, quickly, and efficiently
- Utilize survey equipment to map existing features of a survey including but not limited to locations, shapes, elevations, and dimensions of land or features upon the land
- Perform all necessary field research and retracement for boundary surveys under the direction of a PLS
- Complete daily field notes and provides daily communications to Survey Resource Manager and PLS on status of survey projects
- Maintain complete and accurate survey data collection, note keeping, and field sketches
- Ensure field survey activities are performed in compliance with standards set by the company, state, AEC Surveying industry
- Operate and have expert knowledge of survey equipment functions, capabilities, and limitations
- Apply correct field procedures and equipment based on project site limitations
- Mentor and train survey crew members about survey field principles and procedures
- Provide input to Survey Resource Manager and Survey Team Leader for performance evaluations of survey crew members
- Obtain FAA part 107 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilot’s license and collect data with UAV when needed or required
Your Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Land survey education preferred but not required
- 3-5 years survey experience including topographic surveys, boundary retracement surveys, constructions staking
- Valid state issued driver’s license and clean driving record to meet company insurance requirements
- Ability to work without direct supervision and make project related supervisory decisions for crew members
- Basic knowledge and use of AutoCAD Civil 3d
- Familiarity of State Plane Coordinate Systems
- Proficiency in using all assigned and required survey equipment
- Able to adapt to new processes, procedures, and/or technology
- High attention to detail, analytic skills, listening skills
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and with written communication (notes, emails, etc.)
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to interpret survey maps, documents, deeds, legal descriptions, construction plans, utility plans, etc
- Ability to lift, carry, and use survey equipment/supplies, some equipment/supplies weighing up to 50+ pounds
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Willing to travel and stay overnight for project locations over 2 hours from home office
