Building Performance Analyst (Austin or Frisco)

Parkhill is looking to add a Building Performance Analyst to our team.  In this role, you'll analyze building energy and daylight performance, conduct in-depth climate studies, and collaborate closely with architects and engineers daily. Your Contribution

  • Provide building performance analysis support to the in-house design teams and help lead integrated design workshops on new projects  
  • Conduct site level climatic studies, analyzing energy and daylighting performance of schematic phase building designs.
  • Recommend practical ECMs (energy conservation measures) and conduct life-cycle cost analyses of design options.
  • Perform whole building life cycle (embodied carbon) analyses on building structural systems and envelope.
  • Assist with green building certifications-related modeling (as needed).
  • Undertake building performance research and assist in developing training modules for design staff along with creating presentation/marketing materials for clients.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelors or masters/graduate degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Sciences, Sustainability, or a closely related field.
  • Professional (1-6 years preferred) or academic projects’ experience with:
    • Site level climatic analysis (sun/shadow studies, wind, solar, massing, etc.)
    • SD (schematic) phase building performance analysis tools like - cove.tool (preferred), Sefaira, ClimateStudio, and/or Insight.
    • DD/CD phase building performance analysis tools like – EnergyPlus/OpenStudio, IESVE, DOE2/eQUEST, and/or Trane Trace.
    • Whole building LCA (life cycle analysis)/ embodied carbon analysis tools like - One Click LCA, Tally, Athena Impact Estimator, or EC3 tool. (preferred)
  • General knowledge of green building certifications like LEED, AEGB, WELL Building Standard, SITES, and the Living Building Challenge.
  • Exposure to the AIA 2030 Challenge and DDx documentation process (is a plus).
  • Familiarity with schematic design software like SketchUp and basic Revit skills.
  • Understanding of commonly used architectural, structural, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand building design drawings and specifications.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to quickly learn new and upcoming building performance modeling tools and techniques.
  • Detail oriented with an ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team setting.
  • Interest and ability to stay up to date on current building energy codes and regulations.
  • Passion to advance sustainable design principles like net-zero and passive technologies.
